A Proud History
Did you know that Providence Federal Credit Union was formed in 1997? By merging an employee credit union that was established in 1962 by a group of healthcare workers at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Oregon; and a credit union formed by employees at a nearby Providence Health & Services Hospital in 1969, we had grown to be one of the largest credit unions in the healthcare industry. We couldn’t be prouder to continue to provide affordable banking products and services to our dedicated and compassionate group of caregivers.
Most recently in May 2022, we welcomed United Domestic Workers (UDW), a trade union for home care and family childcare providers into the credit union family. We now proudly serve their membership, staff, families, and retirees.
Moving Forward
Today, we celebrate 60 years of bringing financial wellness to over 16,000 healthcare employees, retirees, and family members throughout Oregon, Washington, California, Montana, Texas, Nevada, and Alaska. We are now the largest credit union in the United States for those in the healthcare industry and their families.
Technology has certainly helped us to reach out to our diverse 16,000+ members in the healthcare system. Our members can chat with us over video banking from their phone or tablet, speak directly with a live teller at an ITM, or make deposits and withdrawals at any of the fee-free 120,000+ ATMs. At Providence Federal Credit Union, we remain dedicated to supporting the community we have been a part of for 60 years and rewarding the people who have helped us become who we are today.
